should I stay or should I go now...

Remember just a few short months ago when I was all worked up over my kids being okay while I was gone on my art trip - my daughter who was having separation anxiety? ( I looked back and I never posted about that part - sorry! - still a draft!!)

Now the tables are turned - that same daughter, who is ONLY 11, is going to girls camp. Since she turns 12 this summer, they invited her to go. She's going. I'm not ready.

I know this is a good thing, a great thing even. Our baby bird leaving the nest. Trying her wings in a safe-ish controlled environment that may or may not have a river running swiftly through it.

Why is it so hard to let them grow up? And I'm supposed to be happy about it, like it's a good thing! Well, I'm laughing on the outside, crying on the inside.

I think I'm most afraid of having another kid who finds out they LOVE camping somewhere other than a hotel room that I LOVE!

Anyone have an 11 year old size bubble?

I have experinced this, my daughter "Roo" b-day falls late August. So she got invited at 11 to go. I felt just like you do. But, I managed to get her packed an out the door to camp. Then kept my self busy with my other children. She had the time of her life and camp home loving the girls in the ward. What a wonderful way to be welcomed into young womens. Looking forward, I will be doing this again next summer with American Girl she just had to be like big sis and have her b-day in Aug!

It really is hard to see them needing me less, but I love the teenage years. i am a nut I guess!

I grabbed my three neighbor friends and we have been on a cross-country road trip for ten days! Moms need to get away too!
